The STRUGGLE I feel is with letting go.  We must be willing to abandon our preconceptions and concrete ideas before we move forward.  It is important to remember that in order to grow from within, we must first grow outward.  I cannot allow myself to be influenced by society’s perception of what it considers normal or what does and does not fit into the mindset of society as a whole.  I must be free from these constraints in order to pursue artistic expression.    

All ART, in its many forms and expressions is only a means to an end.  I approach my paintings as a continuation of one to the next, never ending but instead; always expanding on new ideas and methods.

The PROCESS is the most rewarding experience.  There is more than just exploration and experimentation going on.  I am reaching out on a spiritual level to God.  I am taking what I am thinking in my mind, feeling in my heart, and translating that onto the canvas while I am in a state of meditation.  The fact remains; the process is a very personal and enriching experience.  I feel that I have been fortunate enough to tap into the experience of my soul.

The WAR that rages within me never ends.  It is a constant battle to overcome personal demons and my own perceptions of who I am as a human being and an artist.  The battlefield is my canvas.  My weapons of choice are the acrylics, oils, and anything that can and will be used as I maneuver across the surface.  Victory is achieved, but short lived.  As I finish one battle with the canvas, I must prepare to go into battle with another.

The GRAND EXIT is my oeuvre that I will leave behind.  It is the testimony to the struggles and hardships of expression.  A fragile monument built on a foundation of self exploration.  It is the epitaph of a dying need to be unique.     

What painting means to me, that is always the question?  What are tomorrows without hope, or goals without dreams?  What is life without living?  I dig painting.  Painting is cool.
